Sten Ola Erik Svensson runs
his own consultancy firm, East Net (China) Ltd., specializing in Swedish-
and European-Chinese business development with focus on IT, especially web
design and web consulting. From 1993 to 1999 he was the chief representative in Beijing for the Swedish company Elekta Instrument AB, manufacturer of neurosurgical hi-tech equipment, including the Gamma Knife. From February 1985 to February 1989, he was the chief representative of Svenska Handelsbanken in Beijing. During part of this period he helped to develop the company's international electronic mail system. In 1978 he was appointed by the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences to the Swedish Science and Technology office of the Swedish Embassy in Beijing. In 1981 he was named Science and Technology Counselor. Svensson has studied at the Physics Department of Beijing University, learning Chinese science and technology vocabulary. He also has worked for the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences, Stockholm, with Chinese Science and Technology delegations. And he has taught evening courses in Chinese language. He was employed by the Swedish Ericsson telecommunications company in Stockholm from 1970 to 1973 at their department of technical development. He studied Chinese language at the Beijing Language Institute, Beijing, People's Republic of China from December 1973 to September 1974. Svensson was a trainee at the research laboratories of Matsushita Electric Company, Osaka, Japan. His training included Japanese language studies. He continued his Japanese studies at Stockholm University followed by studies of Chinese language at the same university where he received the equivalent of a Bachelor of Arts. He studied electronic engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, from 1965 to 1970, graduating with a degree corresponding to a Master of Engineering Sciences. |
